Yes – parsnips are a healthy treat for your dog and are actually more nutritious than many other root vegetables such as carrots and potato. Parsnips are loaded with vitamins C and B6 as well as potassium. They also contain antioxidants which maintain healthy cell function and help fight diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Parsnips are also a great source of fibre for your dog, which help maintain a healthy metabolism and digestive system.
How can I feed my dog Parsnips?
Parsnips are great for your dog, but it’s important to feed them in moderation. Dogs that eat too many parsnips might get diarrhoea due to the fibre content and can also be a choking hazard if they’re uncooked.
That being said, parsnips are healthy and safe for your dog and you can feed them parsnips raw as part of their dinner or as a snack on their own. Dogs also enjoy parsnips mashed up as part of a meal. However, it’s important to remember that whilst we might enjoy parsnips with oil, gravy and salt, your dog won’t be used to that. Avoid extra flavouring and salt when feeding your dog parsnips as this may harm them.
