Recently, we’ve shared a few stories of dogs who’ve gone above and beyond to love humans (remember the comforting canines and the disease detecting dog?). So it’s great when we hear about the humans who’ve given a little something back. From new beds to new legs and even new tasty beverages – here are the stories that grabbed our attention this week.
Creature comforts
Animal rescue centres are a mixture of wonderful and heart-wrenching places to visit. They are places of respite and healing for mistreated pets, and places of love and joy as new relationships are formed between rescued dogs and their new parents. But shelters can also lack some of the comforts of a forever home every dog wants and deserves.
So when we heard that dog-loving Stuart bought a car load of dog beds and gifted them to his favourite shelter, we knew that he would be making several dogs in need of some extra love very happy. Watching the dogs settle down to enjoy their new beds is a real treat!
Old dog, new legs
Cola’s story begins with a chapter that is almost too horrible to contemplate. He was barbarically attacked with a sword as punishment for chewing some shoes, which resulted in him losing his legs. The Soi Dog Foundation in Phuket, Thailand came to the rescue to give Cola emergency care. Since then, he’s been adopted by the founders of the foundation. Now, he’s been given a new lease of life thanks to a pair of prosthetic limbs. Watch the video and see how he runs around in pure joy, a whole dog once again!
Wine-d down dogs
Doggy beer has been around for a while, but now sophisticated dogs with more refined palates have cause to celebrate! (We’ll just go ahead and ignore the fact that cats got their own special wine first.)
American Wine company Apollo Peak has developed two pun-tastically named wine alternatives for dogs – ZinFanTAIL and CharDOGNay. Both drinks are free from grapes and alcohol because these are harmful to pups. Instead, the beverages are made with peppermint and camomile to help your dog kick back and chill. After all, it’s thirsty work being a dog.
