Maxine Towell is the gal to go to if you’re looking for a dog sitter in the Chester area. She has more than 10 years of experience and always treats her guest dogs as one in the family. Maxine is also a volunteer at The Dogs Trust and therefore has a lot of experience handling different breeds and dog personalities. Dogs Trust was founded in 1891 and is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. In 2013 Dogs Trust cared for 16,879 dogs across all of their 19 rehoming centres.

What services do you provide on myDogBuddy.co.uk?
“The services I provide on DogBuddy are dog boarding at my own home as well as the owner’s home (no stay is too short and no animal is too small or furry). I also provide dog walking, doggy day care and feeding visits (if the owner is out for the evening for example)”.
How did you get started in dog care?
“When I was 14 I got some work experience at kennels and a cattery. It was then I knew I wanted to work with animals! Since then I have worked in a few different kennels including a quarantine establishment and volunteering at local animal charities. Recently I completed a BSc in Animal Behaviour! Throughout university I was pet sitting and decided to carry on after I finished my degree. I then set up Bretton Pet Sitting. It was my sister who told me about DogBuddy and I decided to give it a go. The whole process is very straight forward and I have been able to connect with people I wouldn’t been able to otherwise.”
What do you enjoy the most about being a dog sitter?
“Being a dog sitter means I get to care for many different breeds, some of which I haven’t had the chance to work with before and I love that! Each dog has its own individual personality and quirk, which means the job is never boring. Not to mention the fact that I just love animals!”
Can you tell us about a special moment you’ve had with a dog before?
“I have many special memories from dogs. The one that always comes to mind is about one of our own dogs, Bandit, a rescue Greyhound. When we first got him he was so used to life in a kennel he would walk in to furniture and just didn’t seem to be aware of anything. At first he seemed to lack personality (he wasn’t sure what to do with himself). The most rewarding thing was to see him develop and grow, showing us his personality and quirks. All of this from just living in a caring home. Today Bandit is one of the most loving dogs with boundless personality and a cheeky look in his eye!”

What can clients expect when they leave their dog with you?
When a dog comes to stay with us, we don’t just take him/her into our home, they also become a part of our family. When they stay with Bretton Pet Sitting we keep the routine the same as when they are at home. All of our dogs get lots of cuddles, 24/7 care and walks in the local park!
Why do you think dog boarding is a good option?
All dogs are individuals and have their own needs. Home boarding is especially good for older dogs, nervous dogs, dogs on medication and for those that just need some extra TLC. Home boarding can be less stressful providing a quieter environment. It really is a home away from home!
