Say Hi to George and Elizabeth, this month’s top dog sitters! Together with their pup Rocky, a mini schnauzer, and two easy going cats, they run one of DogBuddy’s most successful dog sitting services.
George and Elizabeth are big dog lovers and they live in Hertfordshire with a large, secluded garden. I caught up with them to ask a bit more about their services.
What services do you provide on DogBuddy?
“We provide dog boarding, day care and dog walking services.”
How did you get started in dog care?
“We got started in dog boarding because everyone in our family love dogs and we thought it would be great for Rocky, who also loves doggie company, to have lots of friends staying over.”
What do you enjoy the most about being a dog sitter?
“We really enjoy all the different doggies that stay over with their individual personalities. We also love seeing them having fun with Rocky. We are very fond of all the dogs that stay with us, but there are some of them that you just fall in love and build a special bond with. They’re hard to give back to the owners!
We treat all of our doggy guests as our own dogs and we also fully respect the owner’s wishes.”
Can you tell us about a special dog memory?
“Dillon, a beautiful Golden retriever who recently stayed with us, had such a good time here that when his owners came to collect him, he didn’t want to go home and kept running back into our house when they were trying to get him in the car! It felt really good that he enjoyed his stay here.”
What can clients expect when they leave their dog with you?
“Our clients can expect their doggies to be treated as if they are our own and as one of the family. They get lots of cuddles and belly rubs! We enjoy giving a great service to our clients. We make sure we send lots of photos and video clips to put owners at ease and show them that their dogs are happy and well looked after.
Elizabeth and I (especially Rocky!) have a lot of fun with our doggy guests. We play games in the garden with them, making sure they are mentally and physical exercised. Most owners comment on how tired and well their dogs sleep when they get back home, which is nice to hear.”
Why do you think home dog boarding is a good option?
“Dog boarding is so much better than caged kennels because the dogs are in a home-from-home environment and not kept locked up. They are looked after as they would be in their own home and they have fun with Rocky and the other doggy guests.
The saddest part is giving them back, but we always look forward to seeing them again as we have many who are regular visitors!”
