Feeding a Guest pup is relatively easy and straightforward as long as you follow the instructions given to you by their Owner. It’s extremely important to stick to the Guest pup’s regular diet to prevent them getting ill or having a runny tummy. Here are some useful tips on feeding your Guest dog throughout their Home Dog Boarding stay.
1. Get detailed feeding routines
Before a Guest pup is dropped off, talk to their Owners to ensure they bring all the dogs necessary belongings, this includes detailed feeding information and enough food for the duration of the Home Dog Boarding stay. If you will need to buy more food, make sure you confirm what exact brand to buy with the Guest dog’s Owner.
2. Stick to the dog’s diet
Sometimes you may be tempted to feed a furry Guest yummy leftovers, especially when they give you those puppy eyes that are hard to resist! In order to prevent pups getting a runny tummy, only feed them the regular food they’re used to. Feed Guest pups in the same way as they would be fed at home, ensuring the same quantity of food is being fed at the same time everyday, dogs love their routine and they can sense when it’s almost feeding time. If you’d like to reward dog’s with a treat it’s important that the dog parents approve of the treat beforehand.
3. Feeding multiple dogs
To avoid food aggression, always feed Guest dogs out of their own bowl, it’s a good idea to spread the bowls around your house so the pups have enough space between them to eat. Dogs that are possessive over their food should be fed in a separate room.
Always store water bowls throughout your home to keep your Guest pup hydrated, remember to keep harmful items out of dog’s reach.
