This Friday, the 26th of June, will see the fugliest dogs in the world compete for the title of (almost) the same name at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in California. I suppose it’s only fair that aesthetically challenged dogs are also given the opportunity to participate in their own anti-beauty pageant. While there are without a doubt competitors who are ugly-cute (yes, that’s a thing), others may leave you fighting to keep your breakfast down.
Enter Peanut the mutt that won the title last year and it’s not difficult to see why. As a puppy, this poor little terror suffered serious burn injuries which are to blame for his unique look.

Previous competitors also include Elwood, the Chinese Crested dog who, at least in this photo, is very close to falling into the ugly-cute camp in my opinion (perhaps because he looks like a sleepy little old man)…

…and Quasi Modo. The name says it all really.
