While news in the human world has been, well, a bit monotonous (one word – Brexit) the dog world has plenty going on. Here are our picks from the last week.
1. Bring home the bacon
Ahh, the weekend is almost here. What better than a lazy brunch with your best bud? Well, in one Perthshire town there’s a deli where you can enjoy a warming bowl of porridge with your pooch.
Not to be outdone by dog foodies in Seattle, dog friendly deli owner Anne Schaeflein has developed a special porridge recipe that is suitable for dogs, which she proudly serves at the deli, Corbie & Cheip.
Grub’s up, pups!
2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
The phrase ‘a face that only a mother could love’ has never seemed more appropriate. The Ugliest Dog in the World Pageant took place this week in California, where really, truly ugly dogs competed for a large cash prize and a trip to New York. Sweepee was the ‘lucky’ winner. Despite her looks, and suffering from arthritis and being partially blind, she is apple of her Dad’s eye. True love know no bounds.
3. “Say ‘Woof’ for the camera”
From ugly dogs, to dogs we could look at all day. The Kennel Club announced the winners of the Dog Photographer of the Year competition, which means there’s a new internet gallery of beautiful pups to enjoy perusing. Each category, ranging from puppies, portraits, to dogs at work documents the lives of dogs in all their glorious diversity. Check out the online gallery of winning snaps.
Warning: these pics will give you all the feels.
