This week, we’ve learned that even Cheetahs need some creature comforts, and discovered a doggy disco accessory that may or may not make it to the pet shop shelves… Get all this week’s top doggy news in The Scoop!
The Dog Rescuers is back!
Here at DogBuddy we’re big fans of the RSPCA. Like them, we believe that every dog deserves a life of love and cuddles with in a good home. So we’re particularly excited that The Dog Rescuers has made a return to our TV screens this week! We’ll be tuning into Channel 5 each Tuesday at 8pm to see catch the latest stories of rescued pooches who are being given a second shot at life. Whilst sometimes it can be hard to watch as many of the dogs are found in squalid situations and many of them have become unwell due to neglect, it’s heartwarming to see the difference a bit of tender loving care can make in a dog’s life.
If you would like to join us in supporting the continued rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming dogs in England and Wales, why not consider donating to the RSPCA – learn more here.
Ready to hit the dancefloor with this doggy disco accessory?
Just when we thought we’d seen everything, another hair-brained invention comes along! The latest idea to hit the web is a disco lights coat… for dogs. That’s right, the coat has lights built into it and the ‘show’ can be customised with an mobile app. The doggy disco coat is apparently useful for displaying messages, perhaps to let other pooches know that your dog is ready to jive on the dancefloor, or maybe a more useful application is the ‘lost dog’ feature. However, the coat’s lights aren’t waterproof, so if your Lab, Poodle or Spaniel enjoys a swim this might not be the coat for them.
Also, if you’re worried about them getting lost, you could invest in a GPS tracker or collar light instead. But we wouldn’t want to quash your doggy’s disco dreams…
Cheetah comforts
Just learned that Cheetahs are really nervous animals, and some zoos give them "support dogs" to relax pic.twitter.com/NbqYZgmu7H

We’ve all heard of therapy dogs, right? These extra-cuddly and gentle pooches who help us ‘hoomans’ stay calm in all kinds of situations from plane flights, to recovering from illnesses to dealing with trauma. You can rely on a dog to be dependable, loyal and most of all a big ball of fluffy fun.
So this we were delighted to learn that therapy dogs had been recruited by San Diego Zoo to help their captive Cheetahs adapt to zoo life. According to conservationists working at the zoo, Cheetahs are naturally very shy, so having a friendly pooch around helps them to come out of their shell, which is particularly helpful when encouraging Cheetahs to mate. So really, dogs are the ultimate wingmen for these captive cats.
