Before getting Bailey, the ever playful (and gorgeous) Cocker Spaniel, Katie and her husband weren’t sure they’d be able to manage owning a dog alongside their busy working lifestyles. We caught up with Katie to find out what difference using DogBuddy has made. Here’s Katie and Bailey’s story.
DogBuddy: Hi, Katie. Tell us a bit about yourself and the loveable Bailey…
Katie: We, my husband and I, always dreamed of having a puppy, but due to our busy work and social lives, we were worried we wouldn’t be able to give a dog the care and attention they need. But after some long discussions and research, we finally took the plunge. We knew Bailey was the puppy for us; he was curious, brave and playful, and we believe he chose us as much as we chose him.
How has using DogBuddy helped you as a dog owner?
To begin with, we were relying on a friend to look after Bailey. But we began to feel really guilty, as it felt like we were taking advantage of the friendship, and we also needed a solution if he was unavailable. My neighbour had used DogBuddy for his puppy and couldn’t recommend it enough. It was the first time we had come across a service like this, and we haven’t considered anything else since.
The app for me fits into my life and my schedule. I work in the city, my husband, we’re both in technology, so it’s just on my phone along with all my other apps. Everything’s in one place, I can find the right dog sitter and the right dates, which makes it much easier
What were your first impressions of the dog sitter you picked for Bailey?
The first time we met Thyrone, he had invited us over to do a meet and greet before Bailey’s first day with him. It was very relaxed, Thyrone had other dogs there for the day, so Bailey just played, jumped up and down off the sofa, rushed around and it was very easy. I know with Thryone he’s very happy, he does not look over his shoulder when he runs up those stairs – he’s not interested in where I’m going or what I’m doing that day.
What’s your advice for other dog owners considering dog care options?
So, my advice for future dog owners is get the app, get DogBuddy, have a look around where you live, see if there is day care, boarding available.
Recently, a friend of mine has been thinking about getting a dog but she’s not very flexible in her job so would need day care on a regular basis and she hadn’t heard of DogBuddy, so I made her download the app, type in her postcode and have a look around the area and she could find day care, boarding all at an affordable price, so I think she was quite relieved about and it makes her much more comfortable in her decision in getting a dog.
