Christmas is the season to celebrate, have some festive fun and spoil our loved ones – including our pets!
Many of us are already aware of the potential foods that are harmful to our furry friends, however to ensure your enjoyment and the safety of your dog, we’ve included a handy list of harmful foods for dogs at Christmas.
1. Raisins and grapes – these are toxic to dogs. Keep all mince pies, Christmas puddings and cakes far from dogs reach.
2. Chocolate – also includes all edible chocolate decorations.
3. Nuts – especially macadamia and walnuts, ingestion can lead to symptoms such as vomiting, weakness, tremors, depression and a fever.
4. Alcohol – keep out of sight of your dog. Alcohol is extremely fatal to your furry friends
5. Bones – dispose of bones properly to avoid your pup raiding the bin and having a midnight snack. Brittle bones can lead to choking and digestion problems.
6. Onions and garlic – are extremely toxic for dogs.
7. Christmas trees and decorations – can be a choking hazard and are also poisonous. Never leave your dog alone or unattended around the the Christmas tree and decorations.
