In this week’s Scoop: Meet the dog who has got it better than Harry Potter, the dog who’s a work of art and read some facts that will make you feel smug about being a dog parent.
The pup who lived under the stairs
Whilst an under-the-stairs hovel was a cruel punishment for a young wizard (a la Harry Potter), it would be practically a penthouse suite for a smaller dog… such as a Chihuahua. And that’s exactly what Poncho’s parents have done. His pad is complete with deer antlers, from which Poncho hangs his favourite sombrero, a Chihuahua sized bed… even an oil painting. Harry Potter eat your heart out!
Dog parents > cat people
A team of Facebook data scientists recently published a study which suggests dog owners are more popular, have softer hearts and are more likely to be in a romantic relationship than cat people. By analysing a sample of 160,000 Facebook users who were dog or cat owners, the dog owners came out on top with more online friends and were 6% less likely to be single. The researchers also offered insight into the emotional well-being of dog versus cat owners – not only are dog parents more likely to prefer a love story (indicated by their film and TV preferences) but dog parents are also more stable and positive in their emotional reactions. Admittedly, this was only measured through those little mood tags you can add to posts on Facebook, but dog owners were more likely to say that they were feeling excited or proud.
So, we guess that’s something to feel smug about. Here’s to be doing a dog parent!
Doodle Pug
You’ve probably already seen plenty of pictures from the interwebs of dogs dressed in cute and sometimes silly clothing. But one artist has taken things to a whole new level by dressing up her Pug… with digital drawings. The lucky Pug in question, rather spectacularly named Monsieur Georges, can be seen on his own Instagram profile in a whole plethora of wonderful imaginary adventures. He still looks a bit miffed to us, though.
