The BBC have taken to their typewriters this week to let us all know that dogs are now the rulers of the internet. Cats move aside.
Yes, your screens aren’t lying. The era of cats doing funny things ad nauseum ad infinititum in the form of animated GIFs is over – the reign of dogkind over the ‘interwebs’ has dawned.
The thing is, this is isn’t even recent news, dog lovers everywhere known this for a while, as we proved in this GIF-tastic dog versus cat showdown. And if you needed any more proof, Facebook recently produced a report suggesting that dog owners have more friends, more luck in love and have ‘better taste’ in movies and books.

As the Beeb explains, Reddit, once the front page of the internet for all things feline, is now dominated by dogs. Rejoice dog lovers, because the most popular dog on Facebook, Boo, has more than 17.5 million likes, which is more than twice the following of feline competitor Grumpy Cat.
So that’s Facebook, proving that more people want to see cute pics of dogs when they should be focusing on other things. A bit of poking around on search giant Google reveals that web searches for ‘cute dogs’ overtook ‘funny cats’ way back in January 2016.
So there you have it. If you’re a dog owner, dog sitter, or just plain crazy about our canine companions, you can feel real smug about your choice in favourite animal right about now.
